Deutsche Windtechnik Assumes Responsibility for Servicing Nordex N117 Turbines

Bremen/Osnabrück (renewablepress) - The independent service provider Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service GmbH has received two contracts within the space of a few weeks for the new Nordex N117 turbines. The service specialists assumed responsibility for the maintenance of three N117 turbines for Planet energy GmbH (Greenpeace Energy) in March. Now the project developer Green City Energy AG from Munich has added a full maintenance contract for four more turbines. The unusual element: The wind farm will not begin operations until 2017. According to the full maintenance contract, Deutsche Windtechnik will begin maintaining the park from the first quarter of 2019. The two orders for the N117 technology means that Deutsche Windtechnik is now involved in servicing Nordex’s new generation of Gamma turbines.

The four turbines that are already under contract with Deutsche Windtechnik are still in the planning phase. The Bürgerwald wind farm near Coburg in Germany is to go into operation in the first quarter of 2017. And yet the full maintenance contract – including large components, rotor and external damage, a condition of funding – has already been signed. “Deutsche Windtechnik meets all the requirements for quality of service and cost-effectiveness,” said Klaus Silbernagl, Head of Purchasing at Green City Energy.

All-Inclusive Package Wins The Deal
Severin Mielimonka, Director of Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service GmbH, is looking forward to working with Green City Energy: \"This contract shows that as an independent maintenance service provider, we are a real alternative for the maintenance of for new, state-of-the-art equipment that would, upon expiry of the warranty period, otherwise be looked after by the manufacturer. It is not just the cost concept that is convincing – the all-inclusive package with individual customer requirements, such as the protection against external damage, repeat inspections, expert tests and DGUV V3 assessments, are what won us this tender.” The contract covers the full maintenance up to the 20th year of operation, with an optional extension of up to five years.

Nordex N117 New To The Investment Portfolio
The launch of servicing on Nordex’s N117 turbine began in March. Deutsche Windtechnik is servicing three turbines at the wind park in Tomerdingen near Ulm, Germany, for Planet energy. \"We have already had good experiences with Deutsche Windtechnik’s partial maintenance contracts at our other wind farms and we are happy to be continuing this good work together at the Tomerdingen wind park in the framework of full maintenance contracts,\" said Julian Tiencken, Project Manager for Renewable Energy at Planet energy, explaining the decision to work with the independent service provider.

With a 141-metre hub height, 2.4 MW performance and a 117-metre blade diameter, the turbines, which launched in 2011 are among the most high-performing low-wind energy turbines in their class. Besides Nordex, Deutsche Windtechnik is currently the only service provider that offers comprehensive servicing for this type of turbine.
