FGW test provisions for grid conformity verification notified

Berlin (renewablepress) - The FGW Technical Guidelines for measurement, modelling and certification of the electrical characteristics of PGU, PGS, storage systems as well as their components, FGW TG 3, TG 4 and TG 8 were notified in the German language versions according to the Directive (EU) 2015/1535. Before, after more than two years in revision, the Technical Guidelines were adopted by the Expert Committee for Electrical Characteristics in September 2018 (TG 3) and January 2019.

The comprehensive revision was based on the specifications from Commission Regulation (EU) 2016/631, the German Ordinance on the verification of electrical properties of energy modules (Elektrotechnische-Eigenschaften-Nachweisverordnung - NELEV), as well as the VDE application rules of November 2018. In order to meet the specified deadlines, the revision was already started in 2017 on the basis of VDE drafts, and the FGW drafts published in two languages (German/English) for consultation. Based on the contributions of local and international stakeholders a consensus was reached and an efficient standard was drafted that combines all relevant interests.

In addition to the adjustment of the test provisions to the new application rules VDE-AR-N 4110, VDE-AR-N 4120 and VDE-AR-N 4130 and the extension of the requirements to storage systems and components, the FGW Guidelines were prepared for easy adaptation to other grid codes than the German one by means of annexes or separate documents. More detailed information regarding the revisions can be found on the FGW website.

In the near future, the Expert Committee for Electrical Characteristics plans e.g. the development of a (simplified) individual verification process for PGS with a low installed capacity or procedures for transferability of 60Hz and 50Hz test data. In particular, solutions in the form of digital databases are being considered. In a first step, a database is created for the verification process under TG 8, so as to enable a project-specific representation of the requirements or tests. The topic of internationalisation will also continue to be a key focus area.

The Guidelines can be ordered from the FGW online shop at www.wind-fgw.de. If you have any questions, please contact the FGW secretariat.
