Deutsche Windtechnik Scores With ADLS Retrofit in Wanderup Wind Field

Bremen, Germany - Deutsche Windtechnik has been awarded a contract to retrofit 16 wind turbines (WTGs) with Aircraft Detection Light Systems (ADLS) at the Wanderup wind field in the Schleswig-Flensburg district of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

The wind field consists of the Bürgerwindpark Wanderup with 8 wind turbines (WT) of the type Senvion 3.XM as well as the Windpark Wanderup West with 5 WT of the type Senvion 3.XM and 3 WT of the type Enercon E82.

Across the wind farms, only one transponder receiver is installed and operated centrally by Deutsche Windtechnik for all WTGs. While the Senvion turbines are individually equipped with ADLS boxes from Deutsche Windtechnik for ADLS control, the three Enercon turbines are integrated via a common ADLS box using the manufacturer's ADLS interface.

The Senvion turbines have already been serviced by Deutsche Windtechnik since 2019 as part of full maintenance. For the ADLS retrofit, both partners now go one step further, as for example, long-term tasks in connection with operating the ADLS system, such as verification and documentation obligations, but also all hardware including the hazard lighting, will be integrated into the full maintenance contract.

"We decided to go with Deutsche Windtechnik's transponder-based ADLS solution because it means that the signal delivery, the upgrade of the wind turbines with ADLS as well as maintenance and troubleshooting of the ADLS system can all be integrated into our existing full maintenance contract for these wind turbines, and the retrofit is guaranteed to be carried out in a timely manner this year“, said the Managing Director of Bürgerwindpark Wanderup GmbH & Co. KG Sascha Oliver Jacobsen.

Jasper Salzwedel, Senior Sales Manager Deutsche Windtechnik Service GmbH & Co. KG, is pleased that in addition to the full maintenance customers of the Senvion WTGs, the operators of the Enercon turbines have also opted for the ADLS system of Deutsche Windtechnik and that all parties have jointly found a technically and economically optimized solution. "The ADLS contract for the Wanderup wind field is an example of how our ADLS system works regardless of the existing infrastructure, wind farm boundaries and turbine technology", added Salzwedel.
