Wind Market Poland: Start Of Construction For Wind Farm Baranow-Rychtal Of The VSB Group

Wroclaw, Poland / Dresden, Germany - The VSB Group has started construction preparations for the Baranów-Rychtal wind farm through its Polish company VSB Energie Odnawialne Polska sp. z o.o..

The site of the new wind farm is located in the Wielkopolska voivodeship in the country's Kepno district. A total of 11 Nordex wind turbines with a total capacity of 42.6 megawatts (MW) will be installed. Grid connection is planned for 2023.

The building permit for the wind energy project was approved at the end of 2019, and in 2020 the project was awarded a contract in the renewable energy auction. On balance, the wind farm can supply around 36,000 households with environmentally friendly produced electricity.

"We developed the wind farm project entirely ourselves from scratch, using wind turbines that nearly reach the 4 MW class. This makes Baranów-Rychtal one of the most advanced projects in all of Poland, considering that the majority of wind farms are currently built with turbines in the 2 MW class. Unfortunately, legislation still prevents the installation of higher and more efficient turbines due to the 10H rule“, said Andrzej Latusek, Senior Project Development Manager at VSB Energie Odnawialne Polska sp. z o.o..

VSB has been present in Wroclaw since 2008 and has already mmissioned around 76 MW in Poland, and manages over 300 MW of wind and photovoltaic assets. This includes the Taczalin wind farm 45.1 MW, which supplies 100% of green electricity to the Mercedes-Benz plant in Jawor (Lower Silesian Voivodeship). The power purchase agreement (PPA) for this was concluded in the summer of 2018.

VSB, headquartered in Dresden, is one of the leading full-service providers in the field of renewable energies. Its core business is the national and international project development of wind and photovoltaic parks, their operational management and the operation of its own parks. In addition, VSB supports industrial and commercial customers in the areas of energy generation and efficiency. So far, more than 700 wind energy and photovoltaic plants with a capacity of about 1,100 MW (1.1 GW) and an investment volume of 1.7 billion euros have been built since 1996. VSB also provides services for around 1,4 00 MW (1.4 GW).
