Siemens Gamesa Wins 913 MW Order for Offshore Wind Farm in Germany

Zamudio, Spain - Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa has received a major order from Danish utility Ørsted for the German offshore wind power project Borkum Riffgrund 3.

The turbines will be 83 SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 200 m and an installed capacity of 11 MW each.

With this order from Ørsted, Siemens Gamesa intends to further promote the energy turnaround in Germany. Borkum Riffgrund 3 is located 50 km off the coast of Lower Saxony in the North Sea and consists of three sub-areas on which a total offshore capacity of 913 MW will be installed.

Installation of Borkum Riffgrund 3 is scheduled to begin in 2024. Commissioning is planned for 2025. The agreement with Ørsted for Siemens Gamesa to be the preferred supplier for Borkum Riffgrund 3 was announced on 4 March 2020.
