Internationally on Course: Wpd Presents Successful Project Developments in Various Countries

Bremen, Germany - Wpd GmbH, one of the leading project planners and operators of onshore wind energy projects in Europe, has a well-filled project pipeline in Southern Europe as well as a number of projects in the Northern European wind and solar market.

The Bremen-based company will provide an overview of its current range of services and projects at Wind Europe, one of the most important international trade fairs, which will take place this week from March 20 to 22, 2024 in Bilbao, Spain. Among other things, Wpd will be focusing on developments in the wind markets in France, Italy, Spain and Croatia.

In France, for example, Wpd commissioned four onshore projects in 2023 and started construction on five other wind farms. Wpd France has thus realized projects with a total installed capacity of 571.4 MW and currently has a total of 1.5 GW of wind projects under development. In addition, 2024 has successfully begun with the signing of one of the largest Power Purchase Agreements ever concluded in France with Equinix, a global service provider in the field of digital infrastructure.

The Wpd Italia team also reached important milestones with the start of construction on the 30 MW Licata project on the south coast of Sicily and the receipt of approval for the construction of the 81.2 MW "Parco Eolico Montaratro" wind farm in the municipalities of Troia and Lucera in Apulia.

In Spain, the Wpd España team is pressing ahead with the expansion of the 177 MW Torozos wind farm cluster. Located in the windy region of Castilla y León, the cluster consists of the four projects El Poleo, Las Panaderas, Navillas and Corralnuevo with a current total of 51 turbines. In addition, the first phase of integrating ground-mounted photovoltaic systems with an output of 60 MW into the Torozos cluster is to begin soon in Spain.

In Croatia, Wpd Adria has received approval for the 30 MW Katuni PV project, which will complement the 34.2 MW Wpd wind farm of the same name that has been in operation since 2017. Following receipt of the final building permit, the solar park is expected to be constructed this year. Wpd has also received environmental permits and preliminary grid connection conditions for wind farms with a total capacity of 330 MW in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We have exciting projects under construction in many European countries. This applies from Northern Europe to Poland and the German domestic market to Greece and the other European wpd markets. We are broadly positioned and ideally equipped for the future," says Wpd Managing Director Dr. Hartmut Brösamle, commenting on developments in Europe.
