Education
Wind Energy specialists are in demand
International expansion of onshore and offshore wind energy consumption is leading to increased demand for specialists in the area. Engineers, metal engineering specialists and service technicians are particularly sought after. New job opportunities are becoming available with manufacturers and supplier companies within the wind energy sector. Furthermore, there is particular jobs growth in the offshore sector in coastal regions, due to their geographic proximity to offshore wind farms.
Education and Training
Up until now, in the wind energy sector, it has been the norm for employees to complete their initial professional training in an established occupational area. Specialised training opportunities within the onshore or offshore sectors have, to date, been rather rare. At present, wind energy specialists generally undergo traditional vocational training to begin with, and then pursue further training in order to qualify for employment with onshore or offshore wind farms. There is now a broad range of specialist qualifications in wind energy and in the offshore wind energy sector.
Wind Energy Studies
Wind energy is already offered as a specialised subject module as part of a range of traditional programmes of study. On the other hand, specialised study programmes oriented towards onshore and offshore wind energy are still the exception.
