Nordex and Vestas Score Well With Major Orders
Hamburg, Germany / Aarhus, Denmark - The wind energy manufacturers Nordex and Vestas have reported lush order books as of September 30, 2019. Nordex is continuing its sales success in Turkey with new orders, and Vestas got an order for a turnkey major project from New Zealand.
Nordex competitor Vestas also announced a new major order. The Danish wind energy manufacturer has signed a 103 MW engineering, procurement and construction contract with the New Zealand power producer and retailer Mercury for the expansion of the Turitea wind farm. The order includes the supply of 27 additional Vestas V112-3.45 MW turbines to be delivered in 3.8 MW Power optimised Mode. Commissioning of the 27 new turbines is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2021. The site already has 33 Vestas V112-3.35 MW turbines with an output of 3.6 MW. The new project will increase the total capacity of the wind farm near Palmerston North on New Zealand's North Island from 119 MW to 222 MW. This makes the project New Zealand's largest wind farm to date. The contract with Vestas also includes a 25-year service contract aimed at maximising energy production throughout the project.
