Green Investment: Shell Buys Nordex Wind Turbines

Hamburg, Germany - Nordex has received an order from Royal Dutch Shell for the delivery of turbines for a wind farm in the Netherlands.

The 50.4 MW wind farm is being built as part of the "Pottendijk" energy park near the town of Nieuw-Weerdinge in the province of Drenthe. In addition to the 14 Nordex turbines, the "Pottendijk" energy park will also consist of a solar farm with an installed capacity of 50 megawatts.

The start of deliveries and construction of the turbines on 84-metre steel tube towers is scheduled for spring 2022. Commissioning is planned for the end of 2022. An annual 130 million kWh of wind power is to be fed into the Dutch electricity grid.

"Pottendijk" is the first onshore wind farm of Royal Dutch Shell in Europe and also stands as a sign of the initiated change of the energy company. In February 2021, the Shell energy group had presented a transformation strategy for the group that follows an overarching step-by-step plan.
