Major Order: Nordex To Supply 5 MW Class Turbines To Ireland For The First Time

Hamburg, Germany - Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has announced a major order from Ireland for 22 turbines of the Delta4000 series with a total capacity of 101 megawatts (MW).

The Nordex Group will be supplying 15 N149/4.X turbines and a further 7 N149/5.X turbines for the Ardderroo wind farm. The order also includes a premium service contract for 20 years. The name of the customer will not be disclosed at the customer's request. The wind farm is located in County Galway on the west coast of Republic of Ireland. Construction and commissioning of the turbines are scheduled for Q3 2022.

With their 149-meter rotor and a resulting swept area of 17,460 square meters, the turbines ordered will have the largest rotor diameters of any wind turbine in Ireland to date. In addition, the N149/5.X turbines to be installed at the Ardderroo wind farm will be the first 5 MW class Nordex turbines in Ireland.

Following the heavy losses suffered by shares in the wind energy sector, Nordex stock has also embarked on a recovery course this week. By yesterday evening, the gain this week was 7.4 percent to a price of EUR 14.42 (Nov. 10, 2021, closing price, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
