Octopus Energy Invests in One of The Largest Wind Farms in Europe

London, UK - The British Octopus Energy had announced to invest 20 billion dollars in offshore wind farms worldwide.

Now the British company has announced the acquisition of the Dutch offshore wind farm Borssele III & IV with a capacity of 732 MW. Octopus had already acquired the offshore wind farm Borssele V in the previous year 2022.

The Borssele III & IV wind farm in the Dutch North Sea went into operation in 2021 and consists of 77 offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 9.5 MW each.

This is the second investment in 2023 within a short period of time. In the current month, Octopus Energy had acquired a 10 per cent stake in Deep Wind Offshore from Partners Group, a global offshore wind developer with projects in Norway, Sweden and South Korea. Octopus acquired the stake on behalf of funds it manages, including the Sky Fund (ORI SCsp).

Alex Brierley, co-head of Octopus Energy Generation's fund management team, said: "Investing in one of Europe's largest wind farms in the Netherlands is a really exciting milestone. We have big ambitions to drive the transition to green energy globally. Offshore wind farms like this increase energy security and create a more sustainable energy system for all."

Octopus Energy Group is active in the energy sector and is part of Octopus Group, a United Kingdom based holding company founded in 2000 as a fund management company.
