Major Order in UK: Deutsche Windtechnik Extends Maintenance Contract For 61 Siemens Wind Turbines

Edinburgh, United Kingdom - Deutsche Windtechnik and Ventient Energy are further expanding their cooperation in turbine service.

Over the next three years, the international independent service provider for wind turbines will continue to maintain the 61 Siemens wind turbines operated by Ventient Energy at the Causeymire and Farr wind farms in the Scottish Highlands. What is new is that the responsibility for the maintenance and repair of major components is now part of the contractual scope.

Ventient Energy and Deutsche Windtechnik have already been working together for several years on various wind farms in the UK. The full maintenance contract for the 21 Siemens SWT 2.3 WTGs at Causeymire Wind Farm and the 40 Siemens SWT 2.3 WTGs at Farr Wind Farm, for example, has been running since 2016.

"By including the large components in the full maintenance contract, Deutsche Windtechnik is taking on extended responsibility for the operation of the wind turbines. This strategic step not only minimises our risk, but also underlines our commitment to a trusting partnership," says John Morris, Head of Asset Management at Ventient Energy in the UK, welcoming the extension of the cooperation. "The well-established, transparent way we work together and the comprehensive technical expertise for Siemens technologies that we have at our company form a very good basis for continued success together", adds Louise Stott, Managing Director of Deutsche Windtechnik Ltd.

With the new contract, Deutsche Windtechnik has 199 Siemens wind turbines (349 MW) under contract in the UK alone. Worldwide, more than 1,100 of the 8,000 wind turbines managed by Deutsche Windtechnik are attributable to Siemens technology, two thirds of which have a full maintenance contract.

Deutsche Windtechnik AG, headquartered in Bremen, maintains more than 7,000 wind turbines worldwide with more than 2,000 employees under long-term maintenance contracts (basic and full maintenance). In terms of systems technology, the service provider focusses on Vestas, Siemens, Nordex, Senvion, Fuhrländer, Gamesa, Enercon and GE turbines.
