Baltic Wind Market: Nordex Scores in Lithuania
Hamburg, Germany - Nordex reports a further major order at the end of the quarter. Following orders from South Africa and Sweden, Nordex has now received an order from Lithuania.
Infrastructure work is scheduled to begin in June 2024, with delivery and installation of the turbines planned from spring 2025. Nordex will install the turbines on tubular steel towers with hub heights of 118 and 113 meters. The wind farm is expected to be completed in 2026.
"We believe that this project is a very significant step forward both for our renewables group as well as the Lithuania’s renewable energy goals in general," comments Achema Group CEO Lidija Lubiene on the order.
"We are very proud to be working with UAB Renerga for the first time, especially on this 264 MW large-scale Pagegiai project. We see the supply contract as the starting point of a powerful cooperation between both groups," says Patxi Landa, Chief Sales Officer of the Nordex Group, welcoming the project.
With this new order, the Nordex Group has sold more than 850 MW in Lithuania since 2015. Of these, 460 MW are currently under construction.
According to Wind Europe, onshore wind turbines with a total capacity of around 1,200 MW were installed in Lithuania at the end of 2023, of which around 260 MW were newly installed in 2023. To date, there are no installed offshore wind farms in Lithuania, although the first offshore wind tender with a volume of 700 MW took place in 2023. A second offshore tender is currently underway, again for a capacity of 700 MW. The successful bidder in the second tender is expected to be announced in the third quarter of 2024.
