Wind Energy in Baden-Württemberg: Nordex and ABO Energy Advance the Energy Transition with Wind Farm in Öhringen

Hamburg (Germany) – On behalf of ABO Energy, the Nordex Group is building a wind farm with seven high-performance N133/4.8 turbines on the Karlsfurtebene plateau near Öhringen.

The turbines, each with a hub height of 164 meters and a total installed capacity of 33.6 MW, are scheduled to begin supplying electricity for nearly 25,000 households starting in spring 2027.

The wind farm is part of the city of Öhringen’s climate protection plan, which aims for climate neutrality by 2037. Around 149,000 tons of CO2 are expected to be saved annually. At the same time, neighboring communities will directly benefit: for every kilowatt-hour of electricity produced, a contribution of 0.2 cents will go to towns and municipalities within a 2.5-kilometer radius.

ABO Energy, a leading developer of wind, solar, and storage projects based in Wiesbaden, has so far implemented installations with a total capacity of 6.6 GW and invests around one billion euros annually in renewable energy projects worldwide. The Nordex Group, in turn, has installed approximately 57 GW of wind energy capacity across more than 40 countries.

Construction is scheduled to begin in autumn 2026.
