Nordex Turbines for Ecuador: Nordex Group Opens New Market in South America With 112 MW Order
Hamburg (Germany) - The Nordex Group has announced a further market entry in South America. Nordex is supplying wind turbines to Ecuador for the first time. A project developer has ordered 19 N149/5.X turbines for a wind farm in the south of the country, with a total capacity of 112 MW.
The client and the name of the wind farm have not been disclosed. According to Nordex, the project is intended to stabilize electricity supply in Ecuador, particularly during the dry season in the Amazon region, and to reduce the risk of power outages.
This is Nordex’s first project in Ecuador. So far, the country has only three wind farms with a combined installed capacity of 69 MW. With the new facility, the total capacity will increase to 181 MW, significantly strengthening the Andean state’s renewable energy production.
