Wpd Continues Growth Trajectory: Wpd Secures Nearly 300 MW in German Onshore Wind Auction by the Federal Network Agency
Bremen (Germany) - Wind and solar developer Wpd has secured contracts for a total of nine projects with a combined capacity of around 300 megawatts (MW) in the February onshore wind auction round conducted by the German Federal Network Agency.
In parallel with its auction success, Wpd reports further progress in project development. In recent weeks, the company has obtained additional permits for wind energy projects, which are intended to form the basis for further growth. In Germany, projects with a total capacity of just under 1 gigawatt (GW) are currently under construction. Based on this project pipeline and the latest auction results, Wpd expects continued dynamic development. It is already becoming apparent that 2026 could be a new record year for the company.
“With this auction result, Wpd once again secures a strong position in the German market and further expands its project portfolio. The outcome once again confirms the high quality of our project pipeline as well as our competitiveness in the market,” says Dr. Hartmut Brösamle, Managing Director of Wpd. “At the same time, we are currently operating in a highly challenging market environment: falling prices are being met with rising costs. The network package and EEG amendment also carry the risk of unintended developments that could slow down wind power expansion,” Brösamle added.
Wpd is one of the world’s leading developers and operators (IRPP) of wind and solar parks. The company is active in 32 countries. It continues to expand its activities in its German home market and internationally across Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America, and has a project pipeline totaling 38,545 MW of onshore wind and 8,015 MW of solar energy.
