Cadeler Shares Rise: Cadeler Installs First Foundation for Giant 2.9 GW Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm

Copenhagen (Denmark) / London (UK) – The Danish offshore wind service provider Cadeler has installed the first fully completed monopile foundation at the British offshore wind project Hornsea 3. The company described the achievement as a major milestone in the construction of one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms.

Cadeler takes on full transport and installation scope for monopile foundations

At Hornsea 3, Cadeler is for the first time responsible for the complete transport and installation (T&I) scope for monopile foundations. A total of 197 foundations are scheduled to be installed. Several of the company’s specialized vessels are being deployed for the project, including the new installation vessel “Wind Ally.”

Hornsea 3 planned with 2.9 GW generating capacity

The offshore wind farm, developed by Ørsted, is expected to reach a total capacity of 2.9 gigawatts upon completion and is projected to supply electricity to more than 3.3 million UK households. Plans call for up to 231 offshore wind turbines of the type Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD, each with a generating capacity of around 14 megawatts.

Cadeler expands full-foundation installation business

With the project, Cadeler is also continuing to expand its activities in the area of complete foundation installations. In addition to the actual monopile installation work, the contract also includes the installation of secondary structures as well as commissioning services together with several project partners.
