Qualitas Energy and PNE Secure Awards in Germany's May Onshore Wind Tender
Münster – Germany's May tender for onshore wind power was again significantly oversubscribed, producing an average award value of 5.06 ct/kWh, the lowest since February 2018. Among the successful projects were five ventures from Qualitas Energy and the PNE Group with combined capacity of around 220 MW.
Qualitas Energy: 113 MW Across Three Projects in Two States
Qualitas Energy was awarded contracts for three onshore wind projects totaling 113.2 MW. The projects, located in Rhineland-Palatinate and Lower Saxony, comprise 16 wind turbines and are expected to supply electricity equivalent to the consumption of around 75,000 households once operational. The award marks a continuation of the company's expansion in the German wind market. According to the company, Qualitas Energy already holds more than 100 wind energy projects in Germany, a pipeline of 3 GW in advanced development, and over 1 GW under construction or in operation. The company said this positions it well to further accelerate growth through strategic acquisitions and targeted investment in renewable energy assets.
“Securing 113 MW in a highly competitive tender environment demonstrates the strength of our platform, the execution capability of our team and our long-term commitment to the German market,” said Johannes Overbeck, CEO of Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “These projects will contribute to the continued expansion of Germany’s onshore wind capacity and support the development of a more resilient and sustainable energy system.”
PNE: New-Build Project and Repowering Add 108 MW
The PNE Group also secured awards, placing two projects with combined capacity of 108 MW. In Brandenburg, PNE will build the Beerfelde wind farm with 100.8 MW; alongside construction preparations, the company is evaluating the integration of a grid-supportive green power storage system. In Lower Saxony, the Hassendorf repowering project, with 7.2 MW, also received an award. It is the third turbine at the wind farm, following the success of the first two in August 2025. "The successful awards despite significant oversubscription and again significantly reduced award values confirm the high quality of our project pipeline and our strong position in the German wind energy market," says Roland Stanze, COO of PNE AG. "With the Beerfelde and Hassendorf projects, we are making a further contribution to the expansion of renewable energies in Germany.”
Award Values Decline Despite Strong Demand
The volume-weighted average award value has fallen by more than 2 ct/kWh over seven tender rounds since August 2024. The next onshore wind tender round is scheduled for August 1, 2026.
