Stock Markets, Week 37/26: RENIXX World Nearly Unchanged, Bloom Energy and Nordex Lead Gains, Ormat Biggest Loser of the Week

Münster – The RENIXX World renewable energy stock index traded volatile last week. After testing the chart resistance zone identified the week before, the index failed to break through by midweek and fell to a weekly low on Thursday. It recovered toward the end of the week and closed almost unchanged from the previous week.

From a market perspective, last week's trading was in focus due to a fossil-fuel supply shock. Brent crude climbed to an intraday high of USD 109.68 per barrel on Thursday, September 10, 2026, the same day the European Central Bank raised its deposit rate to 2.50 percent. The yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds approached the 5-percent mark, reaching 4.96 percent, its highest level since 2023. Internationally, China temporarily suspended approvals for new stationary battery cell factories, according to Cailianshe. In Finland, Google signed a 22-year power purchase agreement with Fortum covering up to 50 percent of the output from the Loviisa nuclear power plant.

Weekly Winners and Losers

The RENIXX World closed at 1,223.84 points on Friday, September 11, 2026. Compared with the previous week's close of 1,223.12 points (September 4, 2026), this represents a gain of 0.1 percent, or 0.72 points. The week's biggest gainers were Bloom Energy (+9.0 percent), Nordex (+6.9 percent), Cadeler (+3.2 percent), Grenergy Renovables (+3.2 percent) and First Solar (+2.3 percent). On the losing side were Ormat Technologies (−9.2 percent), BYD (−6.8 percent), Daqo New Energy (−5.7 percent), CATL (−5.3 percent) and Ballard Power Systems (−5.0 percent). On a year-to-date basis, the RENIXX is up 8.3 percent, or 93.47 points, but remains around 21.1 percent below its 52-week high of 1,550.58 points, reached on June 3, 2026.

Technical Picture: Breakout Attempt Fails

Following its 52-week high of 1,550.58 points on June 3, 2026, the index approached the well-known neckline of a double-bottom formation at around 1,257 points on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, reaching 1,257.61 points. The breakout attempt failed, and the neckline remains an intact resistance level. By Thursday, September 10, 2026, the index had fallen to a weekly low of 1,205.74 points. On Friday, September 11, 2026, it closed at 1,223.84 points, up 0.1 percent from the previous week (September 4, 2026).

As long as the RENIXX remains below its 20-day moving average (1,238 points), 50-day moving average (1,260 points), 200-day moving average (1,276 points) and the neckline at around 1,257 points, the recovery attempt remains fragile; a breakout above the 1,257–1,276-point zone would be required for a trend reversal. On the downside, the zone between 1,190 and 1,200 points has repeatedly proven to be support since February/March 2026 — including a low of 1,189.71 points on March 6 — and has not been sustainably breached since. The downtrend that began on June 3, 2026, remains intact.
